UPSC IES ISS Exam Pattern:

  • Exam Type: objective type questions (Multiple Choice Questions).
  • Mode Of Examination: offline mode (OMR sheet)
  • General English and General Studies: Subjective Type (Common to both Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service)
  • Time Duration: 3 hours or 2 hours will be allotted.
  • Statistics I & II will be of Objective Type Question (80 questions with maximum marks)
  • Descriptive type questions: Asked In Statistics-III and IV papers.
  • Total Marks For Written test: 1000 marks
  • Marking Scheme: Negative marks will be detected for each wrong answer.

UPSC IES ISS Interview/Viva voce Details:

Applicants who successfully qualified written examination of 1000 marks will be called for interview/vivo voice. This Personal Interview will consist of 200 marks. This interview will be conducted by Union Public Service Commission Selection board to test the general and specialized knowledge and abilities for the candidates.

Selection Process of IES/ISS Exam:

Union Public Service Commission will conduct Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service and select the candidates on the basis of recruitment process as given below:

  • Written Exam
  • Personality test/ Interview/Viva Voce

Negative Marking Scheme:

Candidates going to participate for examination are advice to attempt the examination carefully as there will be negative marking-

  • For each question if wrong answer is given by the candidate then One third (0.33) of the marks will be deducted.
  • If any candidate mark more than one answer for each question it will be consider wrong and same penalty will be implemented.
  • If no answer is given by the candidate for any question, then no penalty will be applied for that question.

IES ISS exam Instructions:

  • The examination is of objective type that is 4 alternatives will be available and one has to select anyone.
  • Question papers will be set in both English as well as Hindi language.
  • Make sure that paper will attempt in own hand writing because in any circumstances candidates will not be permitted to get help from others.
  • Candidates can give answers only with blue ball pen only
  • Answers with be attempts will blue ball pen only, no other pen is applicable.
  • Applicants are advice to reach at least 20 minutes before in the examination premises.
  • Mobile phones electronics device and any communication device are banned in the exam, so make sure you will not bring it inside the hall.
