UPSC CMS Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:

A candidate must be either:

A citizen of India, or

A subject of Nepal, or

A subject of Bhutan, or

A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January, 1962 with the purpose of permanent settle down in India or,

A person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam in order to stay permanent in India.

Candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India in their favour.

UPSC CMS Qualification Details:

Those who want to eligible for Combined Medical Services examination they must have passed written and practical of final M.B.B.S. Examination.

Applicants who has appeared or yet to appear in the final M.B.B.S. Examination can also apply. Condition applicable, admission would be deemed or subject to cancellation if candidates do not produce proof of passed the written and practical part of final M.B.B.S. Examination.

Candidate has to complete compulsory rotating internship for admission but he will be appointed only after he has completed their internship.

Combined Medical Services Age Limit:

Those applicants who want to get participate in Combined Medical Services examination must confirm that they have not attain the age of 32 years.

Age Relaxation for CMS Exam:

Applicants who are belonging to reserved category they will surely get age relaxation benefits as mentioned below-

  • 5 years for Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe
  • 3 years for Other Backward Classes.
  • 5 years for State of Jammu & Kashmir (Domiciled during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to 31st December, 1989.
  • 5 years for Defence Services personnel (disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area.
  • 5 years for Ex-servicemen including Commissioned officers and ECOs/SSCOs
  • 10 years for Blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons
  • Ad-hoc Doctors appointed after 1.10.1984 in the Ministry of Railways will also be granted age relaxation for period of service rendered by them as ad-hoc Doctors in Railways.

NOTE I:

Cumulative Age relaxation:

Applicants belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and Other Backward Classes are also eligible to grant cumulative age-relaxation under both the categories.

Ex-servicemen Eligibility:

Ex-servicemen (Re-employment in Civil Services and Posts) Rules, 1979, are amended from time to time.

Age concession will not be admissible for Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers including ECOs/SSCOs.

NOTE II:

Date of Birth Certificate:

  • Date of birth accepted by the Commission that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognized by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or Register of Matriculates maintained by a University, which certified by the authority of the University or in the Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination certificate.
  • Other documents such as horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts from Municipal Corporation, service records are not accepted.
  • When date of birth is recorded in the Commission, then no one will be allowed to change it subsequently (or at any other Examination of the Commission).
