Eligibility Criteria for NDA exam

Nationality:

  • Candidates must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal and a subject of Bhutan
  • An Indian origin person who has migrated from Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and East African Countries of Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zaire, Malawi and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India with the intention of permanently settling in India before the 1st January 1962

Age Limit and Marital Status:

  • For NDA-I exam, candidate should not be born before 02-07-1999 and later than 01-07-2002.
  • Date of birth stated in the 10th exam certificate or equivalent exam certificate will be taken into consideration for age count.
  • Male applicant should not be married. Only unmarried candidate can apply.

Educational qualification:

For Army wing: Applicant must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination conducted by State Education Board

For Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA and for 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at Indian Naval Academy: Candidates must have passed 12th Class with Physics and Mathematics subject from any State Board/University.

Candidate appearing in the 12th class exam can also apply for NDA 2018 exam.

Physical Standard:

Candidates must be physically sound in respect of the physical standard prescribed by National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination 2018.

NDA Exam Pattern

Type of Question: Objective type questions

Exam Mode: Pen and paper based mode

Exam Duration: Two and half hour duration will be given for Code 1 and Code 2

Section: The exam will consist of two sections like Mathematics and General Ability Test

Language: The question paper will be asked in bilingual, i.e. English & Hindi only

Negative Marking: There will be negative marking done for wrong answers

Stage 1- NDA Registration Process

Before applying online, candidates must assure the eligibility conditions and make sure their eligibility as per the criteria given above. Step by step directives for making application form for NDA 2018 are as under:

  • The payment of examination fee can also be done online using the internet banking facility of the State Bank of India and SBI Associate banks

NDA 2018 exam Application Fee

  • Application fee amounts to Rs. 100/- for general and OBC candidates
  • SC/ST students or sons of JCOs/NCOs/Ors categories are exempted to pay the application fee amount.
  • The mode of payment would be done via online (Debit card, Visa, master, and net banking) or offline (Cash payment in SBI Bank).

NDA Selection Process:

Shortlisted applicants will be called for SSB interview. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks scored in the NDA 2018 examination. Interview process will have two stages. Candidates who qualify Stage-I will go for next round that is Stage-II only. Followed by SSB interview, medical test and document verification will be performed.

NDA 2018 exam syllabus

The syllabus for NDA 2018 will be according to both papers. Paper-I that is Mathematics will contain Algebra, Differential Calculus, Trigonometry, Matrices & Determinants, Analytical Geometry, Integral and Vector Algebra, Statics and Probability. Paper-II that is General Ability Test will contain General Knowledge, Physics, Chemistry, English, General Science, History, Geography and Current Affairs.
